What are we doing
The Moot has a robust governance framework to ensure the event’s sustainable management and a reduced impact on sustainability related issues.
The Steering Committee and Management Team are tasked with championing sustainability and supporting other teams to ensure sustainable practices are put in place.
Risks have been identified and measures are being prepared to mitigate them. Risks associated with sustainability include climate and weather-related risks and the impact on biodiversity such as the introduction of invasive species. In addition, risks associated with biodiversity such as locations near nature reserves and protected areas within the site and nearby will be mitigated to reduce environmental impact. Awareness information will be facilitated on climate and environmental risks for the participants, so they know how to prevent and mitigate them.
Financial best practices were defined to promote budget transparency. Financial governance will be addressed by:
- Detailed budgets.
- Spending limits alongside spending approval methods.
- Searching for the best option by requesting quotes.
- Documenting all approvals.
- Partnering with sustainable companies.
- Ensuring best value for money.
- Optimizing resource use to reduce waste.
- Prioritising digital platforms to reduce waste.
- Conducting regular financial audits.
- Reporting on post event financial performance.
