Sustainability

Events, regardless of their size, have an environmental, social, and economic impact on the community in which they occur. A sustainable event takes all these factors into consideration and aims to minimise the negative impact while also working to enhance the positive one.

In order to reduce the environmental and social impact of Moot 2025 as much as possible, a Sustainability Strategy was developed. It identifies key focus areas to reduce the overall impact of the event (before, during, and after) and defines indicators to monitor and assess its sustainability in two perspectives:

  • Organisational impact, taking into consideration the preparation of the main camp and the resources involved in the planning and management of the event
  • Participant impact, considering their travel, use of resources (energy, water, food, etc.), event materials, and the waste produced

This strategy, aligned with the 2030 agenda and the Scouts4SDG framework, should be a central guideline for the World Scout Moot 2025 which is further explained in the three sustainability pillars that must be balanced throughout any activity
