Bambuco is a typical rhythm from Colombia, specially from the Andes region. The Bambuco is characterized by its 6\/8 metric. While it originates in the Pacific coast, it was re-born the way we know it in Nari\u00f1o, south of Colombia, then it made its way into the heart of the country, reaching Cundinamarca, Bogot\u00e1 and further more.<\/p>\n
The first song I play is called \u201cEl Chamb\u00fa\u201d. Chamb\u00fa is part of a town in Nari\u00f1o, the lyrics of the song is based on a novel set there. In this version, I will sing only with the company of two wooden spoons, those are very typical instruments in traditional Colombian music, specially in Pasillos and Bambucos.<\/p>\n
The second song I perform is called \u201cEl beso que yo le rob\u00e9 a la luna\u201d, it translates to \u201cthe kiss I stoled from the moon\u201d. It is a very romantic and beautiful song that tells the history of how the singer (me) comes from very far away, escaping from the moon, who\u2019s haunting him, for he has stoled a kiss from his garden. This time, I\u2019ll play it with the company of a guitar.<\/p>\n
The Bambuco is very important to me. I grew up with it, listening to my family play it through endless nights, and singing and playing it myself. As I mentioned, Bambuco found a home in Cundinamarca, where I live, but it was born in Nari\u00f1o, just like my family. That\u2019s what makes my relationship with Bambuco so special: I live in Cundinamarca, a land full of Bambucos, but my roots are in Pasto, Nari\u00f1o. I\u2019ve followed the same journey as the Bambuco itself. That\u2019s why this music speaks so deeply to me. At the end it portrays my everyday life (cotidianidad) in Cundinamarca, but tells the story of our roots in Nari\u00f1o.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
